Ducks on the Ave

Richard Stratton
I am Strictly Phonics sole proprietor. I am retired now. I had been a software developer for 40 years. Many years ago I taught my two children how to read before they started school. Then a few years after that I taught two children in Barnard-Brown elementary school in Hartford how to read. In those days if you flunked first grade, you repeated it. They were the 2 worst readers in their class just starting their repeat of first grade. This is the ideal time to catch a reading problem. Children is this situation haven't taken too terrible of a psychological pounding yet and their whole word habits are not deeply ingrained yet. So I taught my two children when they were 5 and 2 remedial readers when they were 7.
